Welcome to the website of the Society of King George the Third. On the following pages our group has sought to provide research material on the Queen's Rangers and it's energetic commander John Graves Simcoe.

It is our claim that few regiments or officers have influenced more the development of the British Army. Many modern concepts such as camouflage, rapid deployment, partisan warfare, rifle-armed marksmen and combined operations found early expression in this formation and the creative spirit of it's commanding officer, during the late 18th century.

Our society has been commissioned to stage events and provide lecturers for the National Army Museum, English Heritage, Powderham Castle, Exeter City Council and the National Trust amongst others. We have provided film footage used on BBC programmes "Meet the Ancestors", "History of Britain", “Island Parish” and "Rough Crossing" in addition to European TV productions. Our research advice has assisted the "Ray Mear's Survival Series", archaeological excavations in the United States, the respected International publishers Dorling Kindersley & regimental museums.
